Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
First things first, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While that’s heating up, whisk together your flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg in a big old bowl. Set that bad boy aside for now.
Next up, we gotta prepare the wet ingredients. Take your bananas and mash ’em up until they’re nice and smooth. Add in the applesauce, brown sugar, canola oil, eggs, and vanilla. Give it a good whisk until everything’s all mixed together.
Now you’re gonna combine the wet and dry ingredients. Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry mixture and stir it up until everything’s just combined. Don’t overmix it, though – you’ll end up with a tough bread and we don’t want that.
Bake that Bread
Alright, you’ve made it this far. Now it’s time to put that bread in the oven. Grease up a 9×5 inch loaf pan with cooking spray or butter, then pour in the batter. Stick it in the oven and bake it for about an hour. To check if it’s done, stick a toothpick in the center of the bread. If it comes out clean, it’s ready to go. If it’s still gooey, give it a few more minutes in the oven.
Once it’s done, take it out of the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. After that, move it to a wire rack and let it cool completely. We know, we know – it’s gonna be hard to wait. But trust us, the end result is worth it.
