For the frosting:
– 1 cup unsalted butter
– 4 cups confectioner’s sugar
– 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
– 4 tablespoons whole milk
To make the cake, follow the same instructions as the Perfect Chocolate Cake Recipe. For the frosting, beat the butter until creamy and then gradually add in the confectioner’s sugar and cocoa powder. Add the whole milk one tablespoon at a time until the frosting reaches the desired consistency.
To assemble the cake, place one cake layer on a cake stand or serving platter. Spread a layer of frosting over the top and then add the second cake layer. Repeat with another layer of frosting and add the final cake layer. Use the remaining frosting to frost the sides and top of the cake.
